To minimize the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are suspending face-to-face visits as well as grocery shopping, medical appointments, and trips to the bank. This precaution is a direct order from the Department of Health and will protect not only our vulnerable clients but also our older volunteers. Our volunteers will continue to call their clients on a weekly if not daily basis and our team will continue to work with Office for the Aging and the Franklin County Public Health Department to determine best courses of action. There are no cases of COVID-19 at our health centers at this time.
is an entirely volunteer-run program that was developed to fill an unmet need in the area of northern Franklin County. The program provides friendship, companionship, and a helping hand to older residents, serving as their advocates and helping them stay connected to their communities.
CFVP is currently based out of the Community Health Center of the North Country's Malone health center site. The director coordinates volunteers and places them with individuals according to their needs or interests. Volunteers of CFVP carry out the following tasks: transport individuals to medical appointments, dialysis, or chemo therapy; visit individuals in their home; coordinate activities like crafts, picnics, shopping trips and outings in the community; and provide respite for caregivers that may need a break from time to time.
CFVP is unlike any other program found in the North Country region; it addresses very important unmet needs. CFVP cares about individuals, not just for the individual. Many individuals lose touch with their community and, unfortunately, do not have the support they need to carry out daily activities. CFVP hopes to change this and improve the lives of individuals in Northern Franklin County.
