Community Health Center of the North Country's dental team provides Diagnostic, Preventive, and Primary Dental Care services (including check-ups, cleanings, fillings and extractions, sealants and oral cancer screenings) for both children and adults of all ages at our Canton and Ogdensburg health centers.

Our model of care is based on the promise of integration of services which allows our existing patients and clients to access multiple services from one healthcare agency. In order to achieve that promise, we are unable to accept new patients at this time unless you are already receiving other services at our health centers.

Our team accepts many insurances, including Medicaid, for dental services.
Please call ahead to see if we accept yours.

If you do not have dental insurance, please do not let that stop you from seeing the dentist. Call our Canton office at (315) 386-8191 or our Ogdensburg office at (315) 713-9350 to see if you are eligible for our sliding fee scale where your visit could cost as little as $15. Supplies, equipment, and lab charges above and beyond the sliding fee charges are the patient's responsibility. Those charges are calculated based on cost plus administrative fees.

What is Diagnostic Dental Care?

Diagnostic Dental Care is used to accurately diagnose both risk factors for disease (or disease progression) and current disease.

Some examples of Diagnostic treatment include head and neck examinations (in and around the mouth) by both a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) and the Doctor, radiographs, and photographs of both the teeth and soft tissue within the mouth.

What is Preventative Dental Care?

Preventative Dental Care is used to prevent further disease.

Preventative treatments include dental sealants, periodontal maintenance, prescription of antibiotics, antimicrobial mouth rinses or fluoride, dietary and oral hygiene counseling, and application of fluoride to reduce the risk of new or recurrent dental cavaties.

What is Primary Dental Care?

Primary Dental Care involves continued care for anyone with undiagnosed signs, symptoms, or dental health concerns. Most importantly this includes disease prevention and treatment of serious and chronic illnesses. Your personal dentist will also provide convenient care coordination with our other healthcare departments when needed.

Examples include fluoride treatments, scaling and root planning, fillings, removal of diseased teeth, and dentures.

What is Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)?
